I read through the first entry on your blog and must say that I am in agreement with the underlying sentiment but some of your examples may be slightly exaggerated.

I too have often wondered why, when there are problems with war, famine, injustice, etc. in the world, the US is the first country that is looked to for help and then criticized when we contribute our money and resources and the crisis is over. Perhaps it is part of human nature to resent the one that has helped and then try to prove that you are not dependant on them in any way.

First of all, no politician would have the guts to make such a speech, as it would be political suicide, and the end of their career. Second, to pull out of Iraq anytime soon would be giving a victory to the terrorists who would ravage the entire area, turning it into a breeding ground for more of their type, and would undermine all the efforts and progress we have made in trying to turn Iraq into a civilized free nation. Third, to divide up those countries that were with us and those who were not would in my opinion only cause our country more strife in our relations with those countries, and give creedence to those who are always calling America the bully of the world. Some good sentiments, but not a good speech.

I like your blog, and in many aspects I would love to be able to do some of the things you posted.

But.... realistically, it can not be done, since we are still on this planet along with everyone else and we have to "take care of business" over there in Iraq, because if we do not take care of the "bad guys", not only trying to take over Iraq, but out there in the world they will eventually will be coming here to hurt us bad! You think 9/11 was bad? If we let them, the next attack will be even worse, since they have realized 9/11 was NOT big enough to bring us down, so their next attack I am sure they are planning is to be even bigger (nukes?, germs?). No wall would be tall enough to keep them from coming here to us and hurting us.

Isolationism (what war planners call castle defense) has been proven NOT to work many times through history, and the best defense is a strong offense, and taking out the enemy before he takes you out is the only choice!

Your naive. You can't ask countries to support us if they have good reason to believe we are in the wrong. You don't want to waste our strategic oil reserve in Alaska. That oil reserve is to be used in a national emergency. If we used it all up, we would truly be at the mercy of the rest of the world, with no oil to fall back on while we attempt to force the world to hand over it's oil. Completely snubbing the U.N. is asking for trouble. Some of your suggestions are good, you just need to rethink others.

I would sooner like to see Bush and Cheney removed from office as a good will gesture and a statement of the American People's intention to work as a member of the global team rather than the bully on the block. We may need to put in the extra troops initially, but I think we could count on UN help in the middle east and we could get back to focusing our federal attention on our internal federal problems - namely energy independence, education and environmental toxins.

Peace!

and then China, just for kicks... says "you want to play hardball? give us all the money you owe us NOW!" because they are on list 2...

and we have to print trillions of extra dollars just to cover it... and inflation ruins the U.S. economy... (the savings on what we give is not even in the same ballpark as what we owe) and we are a third world ****hole, because you got pissy that other nations didn't see things eye to eye with us and threw a temper tantrum...

smooth...

you make Bush look like a genious (that's saying something)... and learn to respect people that disagree with you... those you may find are the people with brains...
