I'm from Brazil
Brazil used to be inhabited by lots of native american tribes that used to live in a very primitive state. Then the Portugueses came in 1500. The amerindians refused to work for the Portugueses, so they were almost all massacred, so they brought slaves from Africa to replace the amerindians. Basically that's the Brazilian population: whites descendants of Portugueses, blacks descendants of Africans and people of mixed ancestry. In 1822 Brazil gained independence from Portugal but slavery was kept untill 1888. In the end of the XIXth century and beggining of the XXth century lots Italian and German immigrants came to the south of Brazil, cause it was empty down there and the government wanted to improve the percentage of whites in Brazil. After a long military dictatorship (1964-1985) Brazil is now a democracy and presidential elections are held ever 4 years. The country is one of the most unequals in the world, 20% of the population has acces to all the benefits that people from first world country have: internet, cable TV, etc, they study in private schools, go to private hospitals, etc. 60% of the population is so fuc*king poor... Everything has a price: Brazil is also one of the most violent countries in the world, about 50.000 Brazilians die each year killed by another Brazilian. Basically that's my country.

I am from Brazil but i live in Portugal.
As you had some answers from Brazil, i will say something about this beautiful country Portugal.
Very small country but completely independent. Raved the seven seas centuries ago along with the Brits. Colonized parts of India and South America. Brazil speaks Portuguese. Azores and Madeira are part of Portugal and where USA have a military post.
Portuguese history is very old 138 BC. Religion is mostly catholic, people are very loud, in the summer is hot and Agave is the top destination. Food is incredible. They have so many typical dishes they can not name them all. Fish is specialty, and believe me they know how to take care of you if you are hungry.
If you want to drink, go no-were else. Drink Portuguese wine and you are hooked. Sports, football, golf are in peak right now.
Portuguese have some strange habits like, sticking the grill out on the street, stab some sardines and cook them wherever and whenever they can. Nobody complains though. Camping is a national hobby!
There are more cellular phones in Portugal than people!!

The Philippines. It's an archipelago (cluster of islands) in Southeast Asia, surrounded by Indonesia in the South, Taiwan and Japan in the North, Mainland Asia in the West, and the Pacific Ocean in the East.
Political and cultural history speaks of a heritage heavily influenced by the Chinese, Spanish, American, and, to a smaller extent, Japanese colonizers. Contemporary pop culture, including the media, music, sports, fashion and entertainment, continue to emulate American, Latin American (notably Mexican and Argentinian), and Asian (especially Korean, Chinese and Japanese) lifestyles. Cuisine and architecture mostly present fusions of Eastern and Western traditions. Principal languages of communication are English and Tagalog (if you know just English, you can still get by).
Filipinos are mostly Roman Catholics, with conservative moral and religious customs. Adherence to superstitious beliefs including age-old sayings and Feng Shui tenets, are common.
Tourist attractions include white sand beaches, centuries-old churches and museums, camping sites and theme parks, shopping malls and flea markets, and research universities.

I'm from the USA and our country was founded by a bunch of rich, slave owning white men, who refused to pay their taxes. That's what they taught us at my school. And if I had to go on one more fieldtrip to the mayflower I was going to puke.
