If it's a small, mom-and-pop operation, just ask the owner. They'll often order it for you if they can, if their supplier has the item but the store doesn't normally stock it.

For a chain, you could write a letter to their headquarters merchandising department requesting that they carry it - they might, but that would depend on a lot of factors. Many chains have preprinted comment cards for you to fill out - you can request a product on those.

If you are manufacturing or distributing an item, it gets tougher. See the owner (if a mom-and-pop store) or the appropriate buyer (if a chain) and try to convince them to carry your product. They get a lot of requests, though, so your chances of success aren't real high. And there are probably a variety of requirements, like high liablility insurance, that you'd have to meet.

No luck on the Boca Bugers or Morning Star. Quron, Tesco, Linda McCartney,sainsbury all have their own brands and lots of selections.

You have to pay them a shelving fee, and it's often times more money than it's worth.
