The ongoing debate is really about, whether or not a male and female can be "just friends." If there is attraction on either side, its very unlikely, at least in my experience. BUT, regular friendships DO exist under those situations. So how does the girl/woman feel about that friendship? What do they think of their friend once they know he is 'interested' even if he acts as if nothing has changed...?

I have a friend that likes me alot and i don't feel the same way and it makes me feel bad. I'm somewhat attracted/interested in all of my male friends, but this doesn't mean i would date them. I don't think i would want to hang out with a guy unless i was somewhat attracted/interested in them.

p.s. Anna J is right. We are flattered.

I think this depends in large part on the two people you are talking about. I have a good male friend that I once told "If you ever want to take our friendship to a different level, let me know." He's never let me know and we're still best of friends. When I've had surgery he's been by my side, he's stayed at my house to take care of me until I was well enough to take care of myself. He's had a couple of girlfriends...both very nice, and we've all been friends. If tomorrow he asked me to be his "girlfriend" I would accept gladly....if he never does, I still have a friend that's closer than a brother REALLY! The girl may just be waiting for you to state your feelings.

Women turn to shy away from the guy. They would immediately find a guy to date just to make the message clear to friend that they can only be friends. Having a guy friend its like you have another brother who will protect you from the cruel men out there. A guy friend really listens and you get a turn to really know of what they think of women.

No one can be lumped into a class.. each friendship is its own personality... So if you have a lady friend who is jealous of your friendship with another woman.. then include her into the friendship..

Good Luck

I have had many guys claim to be just friends but always seemed to hint that they we're interested in more. Since I'm married I ditch those guys right away. I have one guy friend and he is the only one who hasn't tried anything or hinted.

Sometimes I feel startled if I dont feel the same way and thrilled if I do. However, I lost a chance with a friend when I acted like I didn't care when he told me he liked me. Either way we feel flattered!

Very good question--I tend to flirt and if I find out that they want more than I do--I try to be honest in a nice way...I so do not want to lose them as a friend, but I want them to know where they stand with me.
