I've had the same exact car, with the same exact problem..what i did was, i used to fill out my tank once every week and a half. Just go to the gas pump, and let it fill out automatlicly, and it should stop it self when the tank is full, also make sure you keep track on how many miles you drive, and how much gas you put to have a full tank...PS..i miss that car,,its a gas SAVER!!! good luck

Go back to the tank and either cut the wire to the sender unit or remove it from the unit. Ground it and see what the gauge does. Leave the circuit open and it will read the opposite. That way you will know if the sender unit is faulty. Could be in the wiring, printed circuit in dash unit or faulty gauge. Good luck.

it means theres a hole on the top half of your gas tank, so the gas just leaks right out. ps. what it a fuel hand?

odds are that yes it is the sending unit; easiest fix is to buy something that is NOT a Ford!
