I don't know what state you're in, but this still doesn't sound right to me.
I went out on state DI during my 5th month of pregnancy and I was covered the whole time by my employer.
They must have fired you or you got laid-off because they cannot (In California) terminate your benefits for no reason if you are still employed by them.
You should first look to your local labour board and then you should look into your COBRA options because you CANNOT be uninsured when having a baby.

I used to work in medical insurance....and the coverage terminates after about three months without working. I'm not sure about the rules about that for pregnancy..it's been a number of years...

I don't know about disability....if your state covers you for medical....but you need to find out, Pronto!

While the family medical leave act allows you 13 weeks off without fear of termination....this only applys to companies with a certain number of employees...I beleive it was 50 employees or more.

Call the insurance company that covered you through your employer....they should be able to give you the answers to your questions.....and they are separate from your employer.

Also, ask about *cobra* coverage...which you have to pay for...but will extend your coverage for a certain amount of time. The law requires that option.

If you are leaving and covered under the Medical Leave Act,
you cannot be terminated I don't believe under state law under
specific conditions...a lot depends on what conditions you were
hired under. If your insurance was canceled, it may depend on
whether the condition was pre-existing. Too many unknowns
to correctly answer your question. I would consult my employer and request an explaination first...then proceed from there to
determine if you are being treated fairly.

Disability leave and maternity leave sound like two very different things.

You should be able to get off 6-8 weeks for maternity leave, and then come back and get right back to work, and your insurance *should* cover it.

State disability leave? what is that? I hope you are not letting these people screw you over, hunny.

Good Luck and Take Care *hugs*

Check with you company or a Labor Department or Labor Lawyer? I don't know where you live in the world.
Good Luck having your baby.
