What's going on in Iraq?

can anyobdy throughly explain what's going on in Iraq? Or at least give me an idea of what's going on? Or point me towards the right direction to finding out? Why our troops need to be there, and why it's taking the US forever to bring them back?

Basically, the US was led into a poorly planned, mis guided war. We were lied to by our leaders, who said we'd be welcomed as liberators. The administrators that were put in place in Iraq made stunning blunders that have led to a complete breakdown in security. The worst thing they did was disband the Iraqi Army, which took thousands of young, well trained, men and turned them out into the street with no job alternatives. A cub scout could have seen that soon they'd pick up weapons on their own.

Shiite and Sunni are now turning against each other, and the bloodletting will get worse before it gets better. We are stuck there in the middle of a civil war, and young American fighting men and women will continue to die and be horribly maimed there because our leader has backed himself ito a corner, cannot or will not listen to military leaders, and is self deluded into thinking this can be won.

People can attack me if they want. free speech still exists. Despite what Bush has done to the Constitution, this is still America!

Well its a long story.I 'll try 2 be neutral u decide by urself abt my thoughts...Iraq was ruled by a dictator Sadam from abt 70's.He was quite brutal to his own people.But he was always backed by U.S.He attacked his neighbouring countries frist Iran & then Kuwait.In iran war he was fully backed by U.S.then when he attacked Kuwait he was opposed by U.S and U.S troops attacked and rescued Kuwait.Time passes away & his Brutness increases but it was 4 his own people.Suddenly U.S & britain says that Iraq has weapons of mass distruction.So many times international nuclear agency inspected Iraq but found nothing.But U.S along with U.K keep pressurising Iraq.One thing to be noticed that Iraq is one of the countries who produces Oil.Then U.S pu a resolution in U.N to attack Iraq reason they said that Iraq has weapons of mass distruction but behind the seen agenda I guess was the OIL resourse which U.S wants to capture.U.N denies the resolution but U.S attacks Iraq and capture their land easily but again found nothing of mass distruction and lately they accepted it that our intelligence were wrong and we found nothing.Then they said we r here to rescue Iraqi people from the brutness of Saddam recently they take Saddam 2 Court trial has been conducted and Saddam was hanged to death along with his one or two ex officials.Now I cant understand why U.S troops r still doing in Iraq.The law and order situation is worst there everyday 100's of people died in sucide bombing people of Iraq have hattered for U.S troops they want them to go back after Saddam they have a new govt.lots of U.S soldiers r dieng there everyday.This is the whole situation I can brief.U decide by urself wat wrong and wat right.Try reading articles and old newspaper or search for material on that matter on net u will get a much better picture of the whole situation.Last state of the union speech Bush said to American people to give him one more chance to win in Iraq that sentence says it all that means he is failed.

Be careful there are quite a few people on here that like Bush. If you say something against the Republicans they attack you.
