Ratings dropped dramatically after the death of Phil Hartman. Even the addition of John Lovits couldn't help...Also Andy Dick was so strung out on Cocaine he couldn't function.

It was easily one of my favorite ever shows too....but by the time it was cancled they had already lost Phil Hartman and Khandi Alexander. The Hartman loss could not be overcome. He was a vital part of the humor and show's style. Jon Lovitz was just not a replacement. If you judge the quality of the show that last season...it was pretty awful. I'm glad it went off the air when it did, it prevented them from killing a once great show. The first 4 seasons of News Radio are easily some of the best TV ever made.

Yeah, Phil being killed made it hard for the show to go anywhere after that, it is still one of the best shows ever though!

Well I don't think Newsradio is the best show ever. They only cancelled it because no one was watching it any more or they watched new shows to replace Newsradio so people would watch the new shows and not Newsradio any more.

I think the ratings really dipped when Phil passed away and/or the other actors were not comfortable after his absense.
