Yes, it's kind of like that. But the entrants into the gong show were a lot worse than the ones that get into American Idol.

Yes that is true. But thats the only way to know if your good enough if you will make it. if you dont pass take it as a challenge and continue to climb up to be a great singer. Practice.. So not to gong got to sing all the way...... coz Simon will be the biggest gong we dont wnat to hear

I loved the Gong show... That guy was a disturbed genius! Don't compare the genius of an excellent comedic mind to the utter and complete horror that is Simon Cowel and all his productions... He even ruins blunt honesty for the rest of us and made it passe...

Yes. The crazies do make for television ratings. There is no screening process. I was starting to feel sorry for the judges. Real people! Real deluded!

Very much so. It's okay to critique a person on their performance but Simon Cow's saying the kid looked like a monkey was way too cruel. We don't even let little kids get away with such.
I say, everybody, BOYCOTT COCA-COLA!!!!!!!!

But the rudeness of the judges helps the show with the rating and in TV, it's all about rating.
