Honestly, that's a good question. Some of the people you listed are questionable at BOTH professions (Paris for example...she can't act worth a squat. And her "album"? There's a reason she isn't on tour. Hint: It has something to do with her inability to sing...). It's all a ploy to cash in on their popularity before they go on wild drinking and coke binges like ole' Lindsay did.
As for AI, I don't watch it. But my favorite of the winners is Carrie. And I hate country music.

Because they're not musicians. They hire someone else to write the songs for them and then sing (or lip-synch, probably), throw their face on the cover, and sell it. It's all about the money now and was never about the integrity. These musicians have morally embarrassed the music industry. But, hey, again, money talks.
You know, I'm so tired, I didn't even read the american idol part! No, I don't think that show is better. Quite frankly, with the exception of Clarkson, all the winners have scared the crap out of me with their fake personalities. They are on the same level as Lohan, Duff, and Hilton, since they have other people to write their songs for or with them. Not true musicians at all.

The music industry has changed. Like with any business... it starts out with good intentions and then it changes over time because the people who run it want the $$$$ money $$$$ and they overlook everything else. I mean it is the same as asking Why is their so much FAT in a QuarterPounder.. because the QP looks good and is ADvertised as good in the Media, and is filled with chemicals that are not natural but effect the stimulation of our tastebuds etc.
Stars now are elected because of looks and well most have the unreal plastic surgery or whatever they need because they AND the industry they work for Want more money. Everyone would be tempted to do things to themselves if they knew they would make another 6 mil a show.... lol.
Back in the old days the musicians got their start playing around town.. they would get DISCOVERED and then if they had a good fan base they would get a chance at radio and some shows. They would get by on talent and not on looks or sexuality. Look at Bob Dylan.. he is by no means a sexy sex symbol.. his type nowadays would not fit the criteria... and he sings strange.. not like the ways that men are supposed to sing in the industry today. Just look back at the people who gained fame because they started out with a guitar and a pen and sang in town, and then look at their faces and names.. not exactly all sexy or good looking or politically correct. Now we have people SEEK out singers/groups and things.. we are told that this is the music today for the week on MTV and really what choice do we have??? There aren't any other music channels to compete with MTV showing any other musicians... showing the Discovered or the hidden talent.. or the non politically correct. It is a business... and as long as we buy the albums that the factory of music puts out they will keep creating what we buy. Its kind of scary to me. Music is precious and we should do all we can to make sure that the next generation has thinkers, poets, and real music makers to teach them when they tune in to hear what the world has to say.

Young hollywood in general is overrated and that's because everyone is fascinated by these celebrities. We like to see them screw up and get in trouble so we can tear them apart. Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Nicole Richie and yes Hilary Duff aren't talented, they're just young, pretty girls who have been put under a microscope so we can all watch what they do. What's questionable is why we care so much? We're a celebrity driven nation and I think we use it to escape our own personal lives and real issues in the world.

however i don't experience all of them could be categorised as u . s . a ., Ashton Shepherd, Jamey Johnson, Blake Shelton, bypass Canadian Ragweed, Jerry Reed, Merle Travis, Roy Clark, Buster B. Jones, Rockie Lynne, Ray Scott, Joe Nichols, Miranda Lambert and Katrina Elam (Elam may additionally outsing Carrie Underwood very somewhat and in all probability even Martina McBride) are underrated. a number of people who're hyped up are Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Taylor quick, lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Shania Twain, Jack Ingram and fairly some others who i won't be able to think of of on the 2nd. additionally, as much as i like him, I could say that Johnny money is hyped up...very cutting-edge and extremely proficient yet nevertheless hyped up. Brad Paisley's slightly strange however. I propose, fairly some his songs are hyped up, alongside with "Ticks" (however the music in it remains large), on the same time as his guitar playin remains oftentimes underrated and especially via non-u . s . a . guitarists. additionally, Keith city is exceedingly much the comparable way. maximum of his songs--fairly his maximum present ones--are hyped up on the same time as, at situations, his guitar taking part in is underrated. of direction, via a number of his followers and a few who are not his followers, his guitar taking part in is hyped up.
