because god has a sense of humour and even he needs something to smile at

This world wasn't made by god as you know it, at least not in its current form. It was terraformed by aliens. First discovered by a mining expedition+military escort, this solar system's odd combination of planets allowed for manipulation of the path of a large object to alter planetary orbits and cause impacts such that earth aquired a bit of land and lots of water from another planet and was placed into a more optimal orbit. The moon was placed into its current orbit etc. It was really an equisit and ellegant job using maths that allowed for accuracy and precision of projections not even dreamed of currently. Really, it makes chaos theory look like finger counting. Most of the galaxy lives under an oppressive totalitarian rule, but one that does have its merits and potential justification. People live in climate controlled cylinders much like pimped out coffins with built in lavatory facilities, network interface, etc. These are in a storage system such that pressing a button moves your box out of the system and into a phone booth like interface to the corridors of your complex. Its efficient but it gets old. Earth was created as a sort of galactic disneyland. Most planets are very uniform. They might be mostly desert like mars, all water, or methane ice, etc. Earth was created to have the widest array of climates and geographies from the most common and compatible inhabited planets. Of course there are strict rules for the visitors. They are highly but unobtrusively monitored and not allowed to do stuff like answer this question. You would be suprised what some enjoy! There is a vacation package to work at a retail counter! Its quite popular. You can usually recognize these people by the fact that they actually seem to be enjoying themselves and are excited to have a customer. They might even say "Oh! A customer!" dripping with anticipation. Of course, now you understand all those corporate vice presidents that have no f'ing idea what they are doing and get an almost sexual pleasure out of bossing people around. Even a small amount of power over others is quite rare. It is a nice break to live in a simpler world that still has the illusion of relative freedom and hope. For extra fees there are temporally displaced packages so you can go back to the wild west, fight in a dark ages battle, be a roman soldier, etc. They even warranty that you will not get killed. Also the exchange rate would suprise you. Its so funny. The money you spend to buy a motorcycle helmet could get you a low end armored battle suit. But by low end I mean something still unlike anything you might imagine. For the price of a new car you could have a well appointed interplanetary vessel, or even two or three of the more minimalist variety. You would be suprised how incredibly wealthy a person must be to afford to have a small home and an SUV on this planet. This is normally reserved for world rulers and the like. Sadly we also have a contingent of displaced refugees who's home planets have been destroyed, but again these are also usually fabulously wealthy or being sponsored by someone who is. Of course technology can only develop so far before things start to fall apart so my guess is that in the next 50 to 200 years we will need to cycle the planet and have a series of wars, disasters, or climate change to put us back in the stone age. Of course there are other less spectacular recreational planets to meet demand in the interim. I hope you enjoyed reading my little sci fi bit. I had lots of fun writing it.

Good luck and may you never be met with a bowl of petunias!

The same reason he/she/it made the entire universe. To experience physical existence through our collective senses. GOD exists in every atom of this vast universe and we are just one small facet of the entire picture.

For us to enjoy, have a relationship with Him, and prepare for eternal life. Only possible if we accept Jesus as our Savior.
