Definitely. I sleep better if a fan is running. I toss and turn if there's complete silence.

I sleep with a fan on, and sometimes a cd of thunderstorm sounds to drown everything else out. I have to sleep during the day, so there is no such thing as silence.

I know I said I was out of here but this caught my eye and had to answer...
I don't have to sleep with white noise, mine is orange and white and furry all over. And meeeeoooowwwwwsssss at me to get up, go down stairs and let his furry bum in the garage to go potty... Yes we are talking about my cat... Since we moved recently he will only let me put him out in the garage, hubby can get up to let him out and he wont go. Da** cat! Why I have no idea... He is the only one out of the three cats we have that has not ventured out the front door to freedom... Should I just toss his bum out? LOL! OK, I know this was not what you were looking for but white noise sounds great compared to this...
Oh and he also meeeooowwwssss at me until I go to sleep too... I think he is scared to be alone... LOL! OK I am done now...

Yes, I have to hear my fan while I sleep, but sometimes I sleep with the TV on low volume.

definitely. once you start sleeping with a fan or something in the background it seems impossible to sleep in complete silence.

My son sleeps with two fans going. I listen to a CD of thunder and rain or whale/dolphin songs ... I have to, my mind won't quit thinking. :(
