What your brother would have to do is to see about upgrading his contract to a family plan that would allow him to add a line. you should be able to get the phone at the bargin price of a new contract. They might want him to buy another phone, but if you insist they will probably allow you to do this. I just did this with my daughter. I had a verizon phone that the contract was up on. They allowed me to add a line and change the contract to a family plan. I got the other phone at a new contract price. I will say, it depends on who you get on the phone as the representative. The first time I called, the person said I couldn't do it, I called the next day and the person was helpful and I got passed around from representative to representative for about 30 minutes, but in the end, they did it for me. They would rather have an extra few bucks over the loss of a customer. Have your brother call them and stay firm.

Well to get a phone on the net or the store, the plans are the same. What the difference is, is how much the phone will cost. So adding on line you are treated as a customer. So if you are not a new customer, you will not get the new customer price.

Now if you want to, is to check out the pocket and cricket phones. In San Antonio, Texas, they are $25 for minimum basic cell phone service which is UNLIMITED MINUTES and NO conract, then for $37 you get also unlimited text messaging, caller ID, and some other stuff. Now prices are different for areas of the US, you would have to check out what it is for your area. But in Texas, unlimited minutes and unlimited text messaging for $37 flat rate, can not go wrong. CATCH - No discounts on phones though.

you would have to add it as a new contract with your own service agreement.
