Yes, such as AFRICA, ASIA, ANTARCTICA, AUSTRALIA and AMERICA. I think it is becausethe first explorers were Spains and Portugues. Their language often uses the letter a because it is easy to pronounce. Those explorers named it with accordance to their language.

Not really until I read your question. Now, I notice that 4 of the 7 do. (Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica). 6 out of 7 if you were to count North and South America.

Yes, I have always been aware of that. Strange, isn't it?
Also, there are lots of popular girls' names ending with 'a'.
Diana, Jessica, Fiona, Sara, Louisa, etc. etc.
