He deserves to be nominated, at least. He did pretty well considering he's known either for comedy or action. He didn't do a screw-up. But keep in mind that other actors/actresses deserve the oscar just as much.

yes. he took a chance on a purely dramatic movie and was very convincing. he showed his range for the first time. and the movie is still making tons of money. good for him. time to give it to him this year!

no, it was not that good of an acting job. for one he was with his own son so he did not have to act. those were real emotions.
