There is a herb called Tansy that is a natural repellent. Grow it in a pot around your doors and windows. I used once when we were plagued by mozzies. It is a natural repellent for all insects. Otherwise, for cockroaches, try mixing borax with a bit of what roaches like to eat and bait them. Make the babes cannot get to the bait. I find that a biscuit tin with a small hole cut in one side works. the roaches smell the food mixed with the borax and the roaches were gone in a week. Also works with ants. Meat eaters need meat, sugar eaters need honey. Just mix it up with borax and problem gone.
I also can offer you some golden oldies on the mosquito thing. But burning cow, camel, yak, bison or buffalo dung in ones house is not good. Get an oil thingee. Put citrus oil in it and light the candle. Follow the directions on the burner. Citrus oil is real Bug-off. Try it!

The best thing to avoid getting bitten by mosquito's is to have a fan on in the room! The mosquito could not land as they are being blown around by the air!

I've read that leaving an open jar of Mentholatum near your bed/on your nightstand helps repel mosquitoes. Ask your pediatrician if it's safe for infants.

Avon's "Skin so soft" has mosquito repellent properties. It was just a coincidence, but many people swear by it.
