My seven month old son eats 2 containers of Gerber baby food twice a day. He usually has about 24-36 ounces of formula a day and occasionally has 4 ounces of juice mixed with 4 ounces of water also. Everyone keeps saying he eats way too much but he always gobbles everything up. Is this normal for a baby his age?

Babies should have 2 - 2 1/2 ounces of formula per pound of body weight in a 24-hour period - as a rough guideline. It sounds like you are doing fine, though, as long as he's healthy and active. If you are really concerned, talk to your doctor. Also, try to chart what he's eating. You may think he's eating more than he is, or you maybe feeding him more than you think. :)

sounds perfectly normal. when you say two containers of gerber, just make sure you are mixing fruits and veggies and not just stayin with the fruit. personally i would cut down on the juice consumption. he does not need 4 ounces of empty calories a day. try giving him a sippy cup of water instead of 2 of those ounces. good luck. as long as his dr. says he's doing fine, i'd tell the other people to mind their own business.

No....he is eating fine.

I would possibly cut out the water until he is closer to 10 months of age. The reason is that:
1. Juice is just sugar...not necessary.
2. Water fills him up when he should be drinking formula instead...it has all the nutrients.

If you absolutely feel that he still needs plain water after 36 oz of formula, I would recommend letting him try to sip water out of a sippy cup AFTER he eats his solids. ONLY AFTER he is done with the entire solid meal.

Yes but try giving him more baby food and less formula it seems as if he is filling up on the formula. You can also try some table foods like bananas and scrambled eggs
