Who would win, I'm at a loss for an answer!!

There is no way it would be anything less than a tie...the only difference is surely in preference of style...Astaire for pure grace and elegance and Kelly for his smooth athletic originality...they are both masters of the art form, advanced the development of dance on the big screen - and are a joy to watch!

Gene Kelly. Although I love them both. Factoid from a biography I watched: At Fred Astaire's first movie audition, the notes made about him said: "handsome, sings well, and can dance a little".

What a choice!!! They are both wonderful. I think Fred Astaire. I love Gene, but I think Fred is a bit better of a dancer. He is so beautiful to look at.

Two completely different styles. The can't be compared head to head. Gene Kelly was a much more athletic dancer and Fred was definately Mr. Smooth. In my book they both win.
Gene Kelly was hands down the sexier of the two. He looked great in tight pants and shirts!!!

No doubt, Gene Kelly all the way. He used to dance his partners into the ground sometimes practicing for 14-16 hours a day and he did this for 22 years straight.

Ginger Rogers....she did everything Fred Astaire did but backwards and in high heels....
