Deep down I feel a lot of confict. I enjoy punk music, tattoos and skating. At the same time I like a good book and a night in perhaps with a game of chess. I feel like I have a split personality and feel guilty about wasting time no matter what I do.....so how can I balance myself better?

What gave you the impression I don't have a job? I do, but I don't see it as defining who I am.....I hope not anyway.

I feel guilty because if I read a book I feel that I should have been practising guitar instead. Or if I go skateboarding I feel that my time would have been better spent studying Japanese etc.

i don't think you have a split personality. you're trying to catagorize yourself into a 'group' but you're not fitting into just one, and that's a good thing! Liking punk rock and skateboarding but also liking books and chess is good- you've got a variety of interests, can make a variety of friends, and will eventually get you farther in life. I have a weird variety of interests too- I think it just makes you a more interesting person. You surprise people, change the way they judge others. It's kind of empowering.

But anyway don't feel obligated to set yourself in this nice little definition, like "skateboarder" or "smart kid" or anything. go with the flow. you'll be a lot happier because of it.

Your actual presence is long gone interior the blink of a watch. whether I have been to actual see you rather than purely your representations in words and pictures that reality passes as rapid because of the fact the sweep of the 2d hand. Age has allowed me to look deeper than the outdoors of issues. i do no longer comprehend if this is the sluggish dawning of a few sort of know-how or whether it is purely that the international is now no longer vivid and new. whilst i check out human beings I even have time-commemorated for some years, or myself interior the mirror, I see many photos at as quickly as in one in all those layered or montage effect - like observing the flame on a candle. i'm rather beneficial it is greater a psychological concern and not that i want a clean prescription for glasses. i think of this is a lot sharper ingenious and prescient than I had in my toddlers; the clear out of time and adventure and water under the bridge. I even have on no account met you yet I see you, the essence at the back of the climate of a few thing i might desire to on no account understand that i will work together with, and that i admire what I see. you may call it what you like although this is the area of you I the two actual see and this is the area i'm going to take with me as quickly as I hit the button, stroll off, and the two this question and answer are long forgotten. i think of this is the area that concerns. It additionally helps that i'm loopy yet you do what you may with what you acquire. (((Jack B.)))

You sound a well rounded, balanced sorta guy, with lots of varied interests nothing wrong with that. One thing I would say is,go a little easy on yourself do what you enjoy at the time you feel your going to enjoys it.For example, when relaxed, play a little guitar read a book. When you feel a little agitated and have a little spare energy skate, jump around to music. You sound like a very interesting young man, give yourself a break. Why label yourself when you really don't need to.

If you truly enjoy all the different things you do, then you are not out of balance. If you have the luxury that you can engage in leisure without needing to work at some job, then you are not wasting your time.
I think you will find even more interests and that they will be as varied as your current ones. Work on improving those things that you are already good at and that you take pride in.

I think not only are you balanced, but the eclecticism is the sign of a person curious about the world in which he lives. I think just stick with what you enjoy and it will all make sense at some point.

Jung said the second half of life (40+) is when all things will come together. I've heard that is true from older friends of mine. Meanwhile keep engaged in your interests and passions.

To me you seem totaly balanced. You arent completly consumed by one "sterotype" if you will. You are a unique person who likes to step out of the box in a different way than most people. Its okay. I am like that too, I love to rock to hard core music but my favorite book was written in the 1800's(pride and prejudice) if feel great about who i am and the things that i do. I am not being different by wearing the off trend or gleaming so bright everyone down the side walk can see by bling bling. I am different in deeper ways and so are you.

Why should you have to be one specific thing?

Why should you have to do one specific thing?

Well maybe on second thought... If your goal is to be a social drone and do everything you do to fit in, then you need to pick a hobby your friends like, and comb your hair the right way and only speak what your friends can understand...

Where is the fun or intelligence in that?

Only the jealous people will make fun of you or accuse you of being wishy washy... or worse... a liar! Jealousy is ugly like that...

imasu anatawa jishin...

Was that right? Not sure?

That just means your complex, which is a good thing. You have charisma. And hardly anyone has a job that they truly enjoy. Maybe that's why you feel the way you do, you feel as though your wasting your potential at your current job.
I'm a christian who enjoys listening to marilyn manson so I'm the one that should feel guilty.

Answer coming...

You sound pretty balanced to me! Your interests aren't a dichotomy, even though you seem to think they are. The only thing I'm curious about is why you feel "guilty" about "wasting" time. Whatever you enjoy doing, do it. Unless there's something else here I'm not getting from your question. It's never a waste of time to enjoy yourself, unless--you're neglecting things you feel you OUGHT to be doing. You think?
