It worked fine yesterday but now it thinks the ink carts. are 'incorrect' even though they are the same ones the factory included with the printer.

The usual checklist is:

Are they the carts that came with the printer? If so they have a lifespan of about 3 days.

Many Dell printers are made by H.P. which is notorious for having bad printer drivers.

Try uninstalling the driver, and let Windows find the printer as a new device and let it install its own driver.

I have a closet full of "free Dell printers" that I never even took out of the bag.

I love their computers, but the free swag that they send along with them are pure junk.

Dell printers...3 years working at an office supply store will tell you they suck. yes, i am aware that most of them are HP but the cartriges used are differant than standard hp cartiges. the tops have differant indents, so if you went and bought an hp cartige it wouldnt fit into your dell printer. that is my very long winded way of saying go get a differant printer. if you wanna try new ink, go for it, but you have to order it specificly from dell. if you do decide to buy a new printer, dont buy lexmark...one day our lexmark representitive was in fixing something, and he ended up selling a couple a CANON printer...it made us all laugh.

all this techno crap on my desk seems to enjoy getting un-power-plugged and then plugged back up once in a while, try that.
