Format it.
i also had to go through the same thing.
Insert the installation/recovery cd in the cd drive and turn the laptop on. Press F2 or F8 ( it depens on manufacturer ) and just follow the screen and go for formating the whole thing.
This will get you exactly what you are looking for

If there is a Windows CD, When you first try to reinstall windows then you should have an Option to Format and Reinstall, Formatting will Wipe out Everything, Like it was new. Just put the CD in the Drive and then Restart the computer.
You may have to make sure it boots from the CD drive First.

Just insert the Cd into the drive...
Restart the computer and at the startup press F12 or F8
Boot from CD Drive
Follow the next steps, but when you come upon a question that ask you to format the drive then Format it, after this then just follow the next steps..and install the Operating System(XP)...hope this was any help...

run the restore disk came with it and follow the instructions. after the restore it will be same as the very first day you turned it on. if there is no restore disk, there might be a windows CD plus a software/driver CD. in this case run the windows CD, let the windows format the drive and install a fresh copy of windows. once the windows is installed, you will need to run the driver/software CD. and you will be done
good luck

Just do a total reformat of the drive. Then you will need to use a windows boot disk ( or startup disk ) to get the laptop awake, then you can load the Operating System.

1. boot up your pc from the windows xp cd (change your first boot device to cd-rom in your bios setting)
2. follow the instructions on the screen, enter the cd-key and agree to the agreement
3. you will eventually come to a screen that will allow you to partition your hard drive (you can choose to repartition or just format your hard drive as you like)
4. follow the rest of the instructions on screen and you're good to install a fresh new copy of xp (remember to change your first boot device to your hard drive in the bios setting after the restart)

Boot from a floppy or CD, then format the hard drive. From there, you can put in your windows CD and reload the operating system.

put in the windows cd, and restart the comp. when its going, press F8 to bring up a bootup menu. (do that if the comp doesnt automatically ask you to boot from cd) there should be an option to boot from the cd... from there, there are options about partisans, but im not really sure about what to do...
to the next person who answers, please continue with this procedure
