Adoptive parents are incapaciated from a fire. Minor children also hospitalized. Adoptive mother gives you written consent to allow the child to live with you. What steps are necessary for guardianship? Thanks for any helpful legal advice

I am the biological mother. I have been in my girls life . Adoptive father (paternal grandfather) may pass away soon from a house fire; adoptive mother (maternal grandmother had a paralyzing stroke 3 yrs ago). She gave me written consent to have my girls live with me upon hospital release. Do I need to file for guardianship?
