theyre stubborn to switch because of the cultural identity of it, and the fact that the pound is stronger than the euro by a substantial margin.

You might just as well ask why the U.S. still clings to its traditional systems rather than switch to the metric system. We Americans are at a disadvantage whenever we go abroad because we can't make the switcheroo in our head. Why are we so stubborn? I haven't got a clue!
