The idea of old Quetz being an ET is pretty close. He was actually the god Thoth, who journeyed to the area later known as Peru, to avoid continued problems with Marduk in the Middle-East. He then supervised the construction of pyramids, temples, and astrological observatories to rival those in Egypt and Sumeria. The snake -or serpent- was always Thoth's symbol, and it's where we get the double-snake on a staff emblem for medicine. The double-snake, by the way, is ancient, yet signifies the double-helix of DNA.
By the way, Quetzlcoatl pre-dates the Vikings!

No, the dates are wrong. If anything, the Viking ships borrowed Quetzalcoatl.

Quetzalcoatl was probably from Atlantis (near the Bahamas, near South America). He taught the Mayans about the stars. He may have been an ET himself...
