The justice system baffles me. It's O.K. to put a person on Death Row, sometimes for years, execute them, but no, you can't hurt them. Or is it better to put someone in prison for a few years than to give them a beating and letting them go? Maybe amputate a finger or toe as a reminder.

Do you mean something non-fatal? I think the death penalty is pretty much the ultimate corporal punishment.
If you want to paddle adults - go for it - everybody's got their thing. The whole corporal punishment exists because there's inequity. The givers (adults) can and the receivers (kids) usually can't stop them. When the playing field is level, nobody gives or receives.

I don't believe in corporal punishment for children. And, some adults do experience this in the form of an abusive husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc. That was some idea - for the dark ages.
