You are absolutly correct. I hear people say all the time that conservatives only care about fetuses and not the dying soldiers. That is hogwash. As you have stated. These brave soldiers are making there own choice and I commend them for it. I am sure that if a "fetus" could choose, not a single one would choose abortion. I am all about personal resposibility. President bush and conservatives are no more resposible for the deaths of our soldiers than the people watching "Crocadile Hunter" are responsible for Steve Irwin's death. He knowingly accepted the dangers doing what he loved. Soldiers make the same decisions choosing to accept risk out of love for us. And Bush may be a lackluster speaker and domesticly liberal, but he is right on with the way he is handling Iraq. Yeah. he has made errors now and again, but that is the nature of war. You make adjustments and he has. I am refreshed to find you see it that way, too. I just wish so many others would get it right. jason

First time i read all the answers before i answer, just to get a feel where this was going...I am a Veteran and i have been to war and i came from a family with money, so just not poor people join...I knew what i was signing up for and really loved being in the military. I'm grateful for the men and women over there now and i support them, if i wasn't crippled i would be right there with them. No, they can just bring everyone home, it doesn't work that way, we will be there for a while more before everyone is out of there, so prepare for the long hall...Pulling out now will only make things worse.
There will be a draft one day, so start looking for a country that will take those of you who hate this country so much...
I'm not from the US, i became a citizen right before i went in the military...If those of you who dislike whats going on, you come up with a way to fix this. Actions speak louder than words...
I am proud to be an American...

First of all the recruiters [not all]lie,BIG TIME.And the people that some recruit are young and dont know what they are getting in to.They think about the money and the uniform and what both will do for them.Alot of them dont even think about the war and what will happen to them. They have no way to fathom what war is like.No one thinks about being 9000 miles away watching the people they have to make their family get blown to pieces or burned alive or beheaded by people who are fighting over religion that we can never understand.People who for the most part do not want them there and hate them.I know for them it is no fun to worry every day about being killed. For fighting for rights they dont even have and hoping to God that the next time their family sees them wont be in a box.

You don't see people with money signing up! The only ones who do are 'expendable' poor people are those who want to be heroes. Sadly, most heroes have to die to be called that. We have lost more troops in Iraq than in 9/11. Bush didn't go over there to stop terrorism - he went after Saddam and everyone knows it. I've seen how this war affects the people who have been to Iraq and home again. They are not the same people and never will be. If we were after terrorists we would have bombed that country into oblivion, because it's obvious the entire country is infected with them.

Tell that to the 3,000 families that lost a loved one over in Iraq. My nephew was 18 when he signed up for the marines. Less then 6 months later he was shipped off to Iraq. Guess what? HE'S DEAD!! What are our troops protecting us from? Iraqs leader, Sadam Husan is dead and he had nothing to do with 9/11.

I don't think people have a problem with our troops fighting for OUR freedom. It's others, in a long and dragged out war, that people have a problem with. And if they choose to join and fight someone else's battle's, then that's certainly their choice.

how are they protecting your freedom by infringing on the basic rights of others? have you no idea about what these troops have done in Okinawa, or how about the poisoning of crops in central america, or any of the inhuman things they are doing around the world in the name of "freedom"? Do you even understand what freedom means, or are you just another ignorant american who buys anything they are spoonfed without thinking? Maybe do some research before you go praising these monsters...
