Actually if you want to start professional public speaking, you do not need any gadgets. The best speakers have never used Power Point. This is because they can do wonderful things with their words and the way the say those words.

You will need business cards, preferably with a picture of you on it.

You will need to be an expert on some subject. This is the part many don’t really like to hear. It usually takes about 10 years to become an expert on a subject. If you don’t have 10 years, you have a lot of work to do to get caught up.

I would suggest getting the book Speak and Grow Rich. Read it, re-read it. And once you have read it a few times, read it again. Take it to bed, tuck it under your pillow at night.

There you will even find places you can start speaking and hone your speaker skills. Then when you get good (your audience will let you know) you can start charging about 1-2 thousand per booking.

You’re not done yet. You need to keep reading everything you can on public speaking.

Become an expert on not only speaking but marketing. You will have to market yourself initially. Learn about press releases. Learn how to write books that you can sell at the back of the room.

The most important thing you can have to become a professional speaker is a grey box on top of your neck full of information that you can share that people want to know.

Best wishes.

Personally, I lecture without gadgets, but I know that I'm going to have to break down and get a laptop for speeches that require Powerpoint presentations. However, most places you speak will have the projector for the laptop available so you don't need that.
