JUST ANSWER MY ONE QUESTION. What is the meaning of real to U. If U think that physicists r people who just busy in making equations in an imaginary wonderland then I'm afraid, U R WRONG.

Whenever something is studied then it is studied for the real things happening around. By studying physics U can tell exactly when a stone dropped Will hit the ground, We hav reached to moon and other heavenly bodies in "real" with the help of physics. The computer on which U and all of my friends who think that physics is imaginary r reading this answer is made with the help of physics.

Now coming back to Ur question, "when they tell u a specific thing is going 2 happen at a certain day and time. has it really happened to anybody"
this is what physics is all about. About predicting the way of events before it happens so can we may modify them to get the desired results. Take some examples for better appreciation.

When a rocket is sent to space then its position at every single moment was pre calculated and predefined. It follows the exact path as determined by the people sitting on earth!

Take a 1 kg object. Somehow apply exactly 1 newton force to it. U will find that the acceleration it got is exactly 1m/s*2. Which is as predicted by the newtons second law.

And if u r talking about the quantum physics or the string theory then I would like to say that it is not a very much understood branch. There findings are not yet established. That is why they r called "theory" and not "laws". Wait for some time, the physicists will either prove it beyond question or discard it. But whatever be the case the final theory what we get will be the one which was capable of explaining all REAL phenomenons to us.

Physics is real. Classical or Newtonian physics does a good job predicting mechanical actions around here at these velocities. For example, if force = mass times acceleration, you can figure out the specific effects of a collision or an experiment. This really happens, otherwise engineering wouldn't have a leg to stand on and we'd be back in the dark ages.
In basic physics calculations, such as you might do in high school or freshman college physics, we may neglect small factors of air resistance, friction, etc; even so, we can still get a pretty good idea what's going to happen. In applied physics such as engineers use, these things are taken into account to build real devices that really work.
At the subatomic level, and at speeds close to the speed of light, things get more interesting. Very few people really understand the laws of physics that apply there. This is why I said the usual engineer's disclaimer "around here at these velocities"
But I think you mean psychics, not physics. You mispelled that and several other commonly used words, and so Yahoo answers suggested to you to put this in the science and math category under physics rather than in the appropriate category under society and culture. You need to ask a clear question, to get a clear answer.

Perhaps you mean a psychic.Well there are some articles that said that there are gifted people who can predict the future by means of their senses and some of them are real but most of them are bogus. On the other hand,Physics is the science concerned with the discovery and understanding of the fundamental laws which govern matter, energy, space, and time. Physics deals with the elementary constituents of the universe and their interactions, as well as the analysis of systems best understood in terms of these fundamental principles. [1] Because physics treats the core workings of the universe, including the quantum mechanical details which underpin all atomic interactions, it may be thought of as the foundational science, upon which stands the "central science" of chemistry, and the earth sciences, biological sciences, and social sciences. Discoveries in basic physics have important ramifications for all of science.

Yes. My neighbor is a Physics professor and if I ask him when the sun will rise to morrow, he will tell the time.

The next day, exactly at that time the sun rises.

Similarly he tells the timings of rise and set of all planets and moon.

If he says that ice will float on water, then ice floats on water.

What ever he says, that happens.

YES! Physics is real! But it doesn't tell you what is going to happen, it's the science of motion and energy.

Psychics, on the other hand, seem pretty fake to me.

Physics is a science dedicated to the study of hard physical sciences. Laws and equations are developed based on empirical data derived from tests used to prove hypothesis.

Engineering is the application of physics, mathematics and chemistry to build or alter the conditions based on known scientific facts in a safe and usuable manner.

So yes physics is real because scientists prove it to be real based on observable, reproducible test data.

physics is a law, but to prove a physics law all factors have to be perfect for the experiment to work.
to answer the question has it happened to me the answer is "never" also a psychic would be pure coincidence of nature

physics is a real science. doesn't predict the future though.

psychics are real people but their predictions are not. Don't you think if they really could see into the future, that psychics would win all the lotterys?

yes, physics are very real... unless you want to debate the nature of reality.

Now psychics on the other hand-they do not tend to get as much respect as those who belive in physics.

There are many highschool teachers who make a living teaching physics, and will defend it.

Honestly, that's an age old question that cannot be answered. However, we all know the ones that Arn't real. Sylvia Brown is the #1 fake.
