I was recently at Boomers at the batting cages, swinging away with that rental metal bat and a few times I hit the ball on weird parts of the bat that made my hands hella hurt. After about a hundred pitches my ring finger was swollen to twice its normal size. If I buy batting gloves, will this help absorb the shock the next time I hit the ball with the very end of the bat or wherever it is I hit it to receive those painful shockwaves? If not, is there anything that would help?

Thanks.

Yes it will.

Batting Gloves are meant to absorb the shock or a metal/wooden bat. It also gives you a better grip on the bat so you are able to swing better.

But note, the gloves will not absorb ALL of the shock and vibration. Just some of it. Basically gloves are meant for grip.

Yes and no.

There are about two million types of batting gloves out there and some advertise that they reduce shock and others simply advertise that they improve grip and bat control.

Personally, I try to use a pair that is more about grip and bat control, I've always viewed the sting as a sign that I'm not hitting the ball properly and it's something I need to improve on. Kind of like how you train a dog with a shock collar, but with the sting of the bat. The sting makes you work harder to hit the ball properly and improve your swing, or at least that's how it works for me.

I'd suggest going to a sports store (most of them should have their baseball stuff out pretty soon here) and just ask someone to help you pick out the type of batting glove you think will be best. I had a friend who worked at Scheel's (Sporting goods chain in the midwest) and he knew just about everything about every type of batting glove they had, so don't be afraid to ask, they know what will work best.

I'd also suggest purchasing your own bat if you can or borrowing one from your school when you go to the cages. The rental bats I've seen at batting cages are always in awful shape and either have no "pop" left or are just dented up and awful for hitting with all together.

One way to improve your batting is by purchasing a "Swing-Away"...I've seen them at Wal-Mart and Target for as cheap as like $15 before. It is actually a good product for improving your batting eye and knowing when and where to swing. Just a suggestion, I know a couple people who swear by it.

Sorry that was so lengthy, but I hope it helps.

The gloves are more useful for grip when you are sweating, and to cut down on blisters.

It sounds like your bigger problem is that you are not hitting the ball on the sweet spot and batting gloves really won't help. Honestly, that sting is probably your friend - it is giving you direct feedback that you aren't getting the best part of the bat on the ball.

Ya it will absorb some shock, but when you hit it off the end of the bat or inside on the hands it will still sting even with batting gloves.

Gloves will totally help, but they won't take away the pain toally from hitting the ball off of a strange part of the bat.

Not really, batting gloves main purpose is to protect you from getting blisters on your hands from the thousands of swings you take in BP

the gloves will help a bit, but there is a rubber accessory that fits over your pinky finger at the butt o the bat that might help although it may take some getting used to at first

Come to my neighbors house and make him turn down the music you give him the business of the bat. Oh, Yeah I am joking too.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?37u3

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.
