Those who talk about America not being ready for a black president or a female president for that matter, are in a way small minded. It is a beautiful thing to see that our nation has progressed to at least the consideration of presidents being other than white males. In a cloudy, dark and suspicious world we live in, Obama to me is a breathe of fresh air. He has a humble and sincere way of approaching current issues. He may not have any experience with foreign affairs but a smart man with open ears and an open heart may be just what we need to save face as a great country in this small world.

If America isn't ready for a black president, then I should consider moving out of the country because of how dumb that is. It's not an issue of being "ready." Why do we have to be "ready" for one, but not "ready" for yet another white candidate? Idiotically, instead everyone is far more in favor of a female president.

Obama doesn't have that great of a chance though because of how inexperienced he is. He's young and doesn't have much of a record to back him up. I think only a minimal part of it has to do with him being black to some people though. It's not entirely the case.

Nobody is EVER ready, or has enough qualifications, to be President. There is simply no job like it.

And anyone who says "Well, I think she's okay, but I don't think America is ready for a black President" is only finding a non-personal means of explaining why they won't vote for her, so they don't feel bad.

America IS ready for a non-white and/or non-male President. How could we not be. All of our laws reflect that, no matter what they look like, every person has equal rights. No, obviously, if you don't agree with Sen. Clinton, or Sen. Obama on political viewpoints, then simply don't vote for her/him. But if you're not going to vote for her/him just because you think others aren't ready...well, that's simply not acceptable, and you are just letting others influence your vote.

I think America is ready for a black President nd I do believe Senator Obama is a terrific statesman and a great individual, however, I think his political career has been shortlived at the moment, I think he should wait awhile, I think we can expect great things from him in the future.

I think American is entirely ready for a Black person to be president, but I think the muslim father and step-father, and the fact that he was in a muslim school as a child may be a problem for him. I think, too, the fact that he's only been a senator for a short time could be a problem.

No, sad to say Hill and Bill will probably be running... I think America is ready for the right black President. A President that can make decisions and function without regard to race...

His skin color is not what worries me. He has almost no experience in politics. With the world sitting on a tinder keg, we need more knowledgeable people. I wish Guiliano would run. And i do not want an Zipper that keeps sliding down up there., Well we have time.

Not this time around. He is too new on the block for people to have a lot of confidence in their understanding of what he might do. I want to see a race between Hilary and Condi Rice -- that would be fun!

I don't think being black is the issue. I think he has enormous appeal and we hardly know anything about him but he seems to be someone we can trust.
We need to be careful that Hilary does not stab him in the back every day so she can beat him in the primary. We need to learn about his beliefs and convictions with out all of that political in fighting.

NO! I don't he has a good chance, as we are not ready for a minority as a president. America is a baby...she still has a lot to learn and grow.
