So maybe some of you already know this but, they are working on ways to give disfigured people a new face. In fact, it's already been done. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4484728.stm
Because it would be someone else's face (cadaver) on your bone structure, it would make a totally new looking face.
If you were badly burned in a fire or something similar and your face was totally unrecognizable, would you consider getting this procedure done?
Keep in mind, every time you looked in the mirror, you would be seeing someone totally different than what you are used to.

Depends on how badly I had been disfigured. I would do it if it was affordable and my face had been totally destroyed by a fire or something and no amount of reconstructive surgery could help me. I'd rather see a new face than a mass of scar tissue. I'd still have my bone structure so I'd probably see some resemblance of my old face even if it was just a little bit. If I was disfigured tomorrow, I might wait awhile before getting a 'new' face since the procedure is still fairly new.

Yeah, if I was horribly disfigured and that was the best way possible to live a normal life, then yes, I would want a face transplant. So you would be looking at a different face. So what? When you get disfigured aren't you looking at a different face then? So what's the difference? I hope that medicine advances further by then and can transplant my entire brain into another body, that would work much better.

If my speech and/or quality of life were affected enough to warrant the need, yes I would do it.
Think about it - if your face is fracked up enough to be unrecognizable in its unusable state - having a transplant in order to regain usage and not be a horror to myself, let alone the general public is acceptable to me.
I think people find it offensive (mentally and physically) because facial features are so unique to an individual. However, this is not "using someone else's face" - it's essentially a graft. Due to individual bone structure, your 'new' face would not look like your old one or even the donor's.

the only way i would consider it is if there was something so horribly wrong with the skin (disease) and there was no other way to save it or no other method of restoring the health of the skin, then i might have to consider it, but id rather have them remove all the skin and let it all start from scratch rather that have someone Else's face.

I would do it. It's only been done twice so far but both people were horribly disfigured and were probably glad it was an option.

Perhaps yes - when Angelina Jolie gets tired of her own face I'll have hers
