The animation is definitely in every aspect better than the manga
Samurai Champloo has a wonderful distinctive, hip hop soundtrack to it
The animation is all high quality, the action scenes excellent, and the voice actors (in japanese for this case) fit the voices perfectly.
you don't get the action played out for you in the manga, or get to hear the soundtrack either.

the manga is based off of the anime. in most cases manga comes first, not so for Champloo. so i have to go with the first one to exist, the anime.
