I am a single father of three awesome kids. They are grown and doing their own things. Have a lot of free time. Any suggestions?

Hankster, what is it that you like to do? Go around people who like those same things.

But at the same time, there may be things you have done in the past or new things you want to try that you do alone. Think about what those things are and try them out.

And what are your main goals right now: (1) to acquire another relationship? or (2) to acquire friends to do things with?

Good luck. It all depends on you. Sometimes at your age people think that you should hook up with a lady friend again but perhaps what you really need is to reconnect to yourself or to reconnect to a bunch of male friends to hang out with. It totally depends on your needs and not what others think you need or should do.

I'm 43 and very happily married but the point I'm making is same age group. I personally would NOT suggest spending lots of time on the computer. Library is a good thing. I suggest you stay away from bars. From time to time they are good, but again you don't want to make that a habit either. Find out what goes on in your town. Almost all towns have single organizations. Try joing one, they can be lots of fun.
Good luck, and let us know how your doing!!

I'm almost 43 and I'm having a great time being all about me! I met a great guy online one year ago and have never had such a satisfying relationship. I highly recommend online dating, as I think it's a great way to get to know people. I tried yahoo personals, eharmony, and match and had the most dates off match.com.
We do lots of things together and with friends: bowling, movies, hiking, camping, cocktail parties, movies, play Scrabble, lift weights.
Get out and meet someone and have fun. You're still young!

Geocaching! All around you, people have hidden stuff for you to find. Some of them are big Tupperware containers full of trade items. Others are tiny little containers with only enough room for a slip of paper to sign your name. You do need a handheld GPS unit to find them, they run anywhere from $30.00 on Ebay, on up to the hundreds. Geocaches can be in the woods where you have to hike, or right downtown.

Geocachers also enjoy getting together in person, and you even get credit for a "find" if you attend an event. I'm 47 and I've met friends of all ages & discovered hiking trails I never knew existed, all in the past year.

Are you in a big city or a small town? If your in a small town like me, there isn't a lot to do for us forty-something people. No where to go to meet anyone. Just find something you enjoy doing and hopefully you may get to know some new friends there. Or you could go on plenty of fish.............

Go to bookstores, art galleries and museums, Wholefoods, un-hollywood movies, go ice/roller skating, fly a kite, read, go to a church, take classes, shop, photograph cool stuff. Do whatever turns you on and have fun.
