My daughter was "cooking" dinner the other night, and left a plastic (nylon) cooking utensil in the pot. Then she left the pot on the burner and "forgot to turn it off." When I got home, it had been "simmering" in the pot for about 20 - 30 minutes. Is my new pot lost? Is there a way to remove the melted plastic from the pot without damaging it? I have already tried boiling water in it. I thought maybe if I got it to heat back up it would be easier to remove, but alas, it did not budge. Any thoughts?

If it will not pry off at room temperature, try freezing it for a couple of days and then pry it off, or break it off. You may have to sand off the last little bit. Then heat empty on the stove and let er smoke until the very last has burned off.

Have you tried putting it in the freezer so the plastic freezes and you can pop it off?

Works for getting candle wax out of the bottom of my votive holders.

See if you can melt it so as to get it soft with a hair dryer on high, then scrape it off. When you get it all off then give it a good cleaning with SOS.
