When I had mine I, was given a standard brochure that advises patients to consider it permanent.
Reversals can be done, but they are much more expensive and complicated than the original vasectomy and there is no guarantee of success. Plus I doubt they are covered by insurance. I was advised to at least bank some sperm if I thought there was any possibility I might ever change my mind about having another child.
There are some new technologies that make reversal easier, but I don't know what evidence exists for their effectiveness.

It isn't that simple. I don't know about the insurance issue, but there are other things to consider. a) it can take 1-2 years to have a pregnancy occur after a reverse vasectomy. b) There are many things that can cause a reverse vasectomy to fail, but in the "best hands" it can be reversed about 99% of the time. They generally result in natural pregnancies 2/3 of the time after reverse vasectomies.

WELL....... a Vasectomy is relatively simple and insurance will cover it but...
A reversal is more costly AND it might not be covered. A reversal is not guaranteed either. If he is adamant about not having kids tell him to KEEP the follow up visits. If not he may be in for a surprise(my cousin was). If he wants more then a vasectomy is not the choice. Vasectomy are supposed to be permanent.Good Luck!!!

Most, but not all, insurance plans will cover a vasectomy, but I don't know of ANY that will cover reversal. I work for an insurance company. Make sure he checks with his claims examiner first.

You can not reverse a vasectomy once done it is permanent. So he should be very sure he want one. It would be better for the woman to get her tubes tied because that can be reversed!

Reversels RARELY work. Longer you been snipped, the less chance it will. AND they wont do it normally unless you have 2 kids, or are past a certian age incase you DO change your mind to have another child. Don't know about the insurence thing, but I don't know why they'd cover something that isn't needed or for a medical reason.

No.......Not that simple.
I don't think that insurance will cover both vasectomy and rewinding of vasectomy.
