i've heard it was the searchers, the drifters, the clovers...
if there are remakes, who sings the most popular version ,the one played on most radio stations?

The original hit was by the Clovers in 1959.
A remake by the Searchers made the top ten in 1965.
The Searchers' version gets more airplay these days than the Clovers'.

You are probably most familiar with the sound by "The Searchers" with their remake of the song. It was #3 on the charts in 1964.

The two that I know of are the Searchers, which you stated, and the Beatles did it too. The most common version is the Searchers.

the clovers sang it ,released in 1965.there is many remakes from other bands rock , country etc. the one i liked is the soundtrack love potion #9 starring sandra bulluck.so its hard to tell you which one is the poplar one.
