They are descendants of Native Americans... But they do not live in the UNITED STATES. Canadians are North Americans too but they do not live in the US. They are more than welcome to stay in Columbia, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, and Mexico. Thanks anyway.

I know this question was about 5 years from now but I think you should know that there's a difference. Native Americans are different than Mexicans. If you can't see the difference you must be blind. Ok so Mexicans are a blend of Spanish/French most likely Spanish. The "Mestizos" are the majority of the population in Mexico. That's why they don't call themselves Native nor Spanish just "Mexican" please don't be so ignorant and study Mexico's history and ethnicity. Yes, I have to agree there's alot of Native looking Mexicans but those are probably Chicanos or who's family came from South/Central Mexico. The North Mexicans and some Central Mexicans are really different. They are all pretty much mixed with Spanish. There is some about 80%European and only 20% Native American. Some around 30-48% Native American and 30-48% Spanish. In Sonora (Most Northwestern state in Mexico) people are around 80% European and only 10-20% Native American. The Spanish were really racist remember that.

Well... first of all Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Ecuador are all in South America, Panama is in Central America and Mexico is half in North American and the other half in Central America but most of the people consider Mexico in Central America. People can't call Mexicans native Americans because Native Americans are the tribes that were living here in the US territory before the British Colonies. Mexicans are kind of related with Native Americans, but still they are completely different. What could be possible is to call all the people living in North, Central and South America as Americans, and not only saying that U.S. people are the only called "Americans".
Hope it helps

You're a bit off in your geography. Brazil, Argentina and Ecuador are on the South American continent and Colombia & Panama are "Central America". Technically they can all be called Americans...we in the usa do tend to try to use that exclusively while Canadians are definitley Americans and probably as native as me. Native is a very subjective term and can be debated hotly!

The official definition of a Native American is : any member of the peoples living in North or South America before the Europeans arrived.
Which would include inhabitants of Mexico as well....
But there is a difference between North America and South America. Columbia, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, and Ecuador are part of *South* America - not North America.
South America ranks fourth in area (after Asia, Africa, and North America) and fifth in population (after Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America).

This Is What I Think Personally.... Mexicans and other Latinos are considered Native Americans...Why Americans?? Well From Canada all the Way to Brazil and in between them which is the US , Is what you call "THE AMERICAS". WE ARE NATIVES...MIXED OR NOT , cause even though Mexicans,Salvadoreans,Guatamalens, etc. ARE MIXED with Spaniard or any other blood. WE HAVE THAT INDIAN BLOOD IN US, So were all considerd Indians, whether one has different characteristics than the other...but take a look at a few Mexicans..nd take a look at US Born Native Americans..we look alike..some Mexicans look more Indigenous than anything else..and some Native Americans Look more Mexican than anything else..Why? Cause were all connected... Navajos,Apaches,Cherookees, ect. Are all different tribes, just like Aztecs ,Mayans, nd Incas were as well..see were all Indegenous...I see a few Native Americans with Spanish last names or similar foods like the Mexicans..why do you think some Mexicans call eachother INDIOS

Some Mexicans are native Americans, some are descended from Spanish conquerors. The same rule goes for all of South and North America.

Ok, some misconceptions here. First of all, people from Mexico does not belong all of them to the same race, that goes for ALL American countries. The native american population of Mexico is only 20% of population, they don't use to emmigrate. The ones that are emmigrating are the 70% of the population that are mixed have white spanish blood on them. Not only that, they speak Spanish, not a native language and they are catholics. So they have got much of European culture, therefore they can't be considered native americans, culturally speaking they are more Europeans than native americans, although by blood most of them are more native american.
Again, in the countries you mentioned, some people there are native americans, but most are or mixed or white or black, yes, there are lots of blacks in Latin America and whites too.
Someone said that Brazilians are 50% Portuguese 50% Native, that's wrong not only because of the reasons mentioned above (Brazil is not monoracial), but because the natives in Brazil were massacred there are feel of them here, the Brazilian population is white, black or mixed (mainly)
Another mistake would be supposing that all whites in Latin American descents of Iberians, but I don't want to make my message longer. Thanks for the atention

they are at all effects. If you look at the somatic tracts of mexican people you may detect a similarity with the Natives. Well Arizona and New Mexico were very close to the border and I'm sure that many Natives fled there when pressed by the white men who wanted to exterminate them..If they are not referred to as Natives is probably because they are not in USA territory anymore...
