In order to answer this question, it would be nice if we had a little more information. What exactly about Japans landscape are you asking about?

If I were you, I would be asking about the way the mountains have kind of a patchwork pattern with their trees. One species of tree is growing in the middle of a mountain, then it is surrounded by other species of trees, and it makes it look like patchwork. The reason for that is their need for wood, and their attempt to reforest the forests. Most of the houses are made of wood that depends on those trees.

Hope that helps.
