Why are nirvana left out when people talk about the greastest band of all time?

When Cobain killed himself he also killed the the opportunity of the band to get to real stardom. They were grate but they didn't had achieved yet the "legend" status of the great rock bands. Besides people don't like to have some one that committed suicide as a musical role model. He was good rocker, but he was a week coward.

It's probably because it was mainly a one man band. Without Cobain the band died. Just like The Doors without Jim Morrison, Queen without Fredy Mercury or imagine The Rolling Stones without Mike Jagger. Easy to figure it out no? What happened to The Police when Sting went solo?

There's a ton of bands in history that shared the fate of Nirvana when their main character died or left. Rock bands always have a front man, that's the way it works.

For me, it was when Peter gabriel left Genesis. After his departure from the band it was merely Phil and friends living off the reputation that the band had without ever showing the same amount of musical genius. In fact, it got worst as the years went by.

Cause Nirvana was never really that great, all what they did in my opinion is ruined the good bands/artist's careers and brought in the awful music which still exists today, I thought that the hair metal era was the last good era of pop/rock music and music has gone downhill ever since Nirvana came along.

nirvana is cobain and nirvana died with him... it is cobain's gift of making music out of simple chords and with simple solos that makes nirvana somehow unique... comparing it to other songs from other grunge bands u can hear the difference...

once there's a discussion about 'grunge' or 'seattle sound' the first band that comes to my mind is nirvana... that, in my opinion makes nirvana a legend...

even though many are not agreeable to cobain's act of suicide, so far i've heard no other rock band members followed his steps... none has the idea of what message was cobain trying to convey to his fans and general listeners...

nirvana are not left out... from time to time we see tribute concerts on his behalf... and we have yet to see any rock band achieving what nirvana has achieved in their line of music...

Because their songs aren't really musically good. In fact, they're downright easy. As far as last true rock band, if we're speaking in terms of the most recent to come along, I've got to go with Guns N' Roses on that.

Because they all listen to modern day mainstream crap like Fall Out Boy and Three Days Grace and My Chemical Romance. Nirvana was good but not super great band. Too bad Kurt was murdered (he didn't kill himself unlike what the police fags say)

THey are mention all the time as one of the best band. Last month I heard they beat out Elvis in sales on something. ROlling Stones always mention they are one of the best band ever. I actually think they are over rated.
