you're not too old, trust me. I know people with felonies who go to college with me. My boy did 10 years for robbery and he's going to school to be a writer. You have to be smart about what field you go into. obviously, you can't be a police officer or anything like that. I'm not sure about the health field. I would go into computers or engineering. Sure, somebody might hold it against you, but someone will give you a chance. Stay away from those goons who are going nowhere in life and for God's sake don't get into anymore trouble. If you can show that you can keep a clean record by the time you finish college you should be able to find a job. Go into engineering make $1300 a week, buy a nice car, find a hot girlfriend and live the American dream. It's a lot better on this side than it is on that side. I know. I've been on both sides and been lucky enough not to get caught. If you hang with people who are successful you become successful if you hang out with dogs, fleas will stick to you. I don't mean to lecture, but you need to pick your friends a little bit better because it sounds like people are influencing you. You can either be KIng Rat of all the little rats or you can be a respected member of society who enjoys all the nice things life has to offer and live in peace. The choice is up to you. There are a few websites on the internet that talk about felons finding a job so yes I know it is possible. Keep your nose clean.

Dude - you have no idea what opportunities are out there for you. I can tell by reading your writing that you are an intelligent individual. It appears that you already have some direction in your life - and you have a desire to further your education. This tells me that you are not willing to settle for just any kind of a career - but see better things for yourself down the road.
I can understand your anxiety over the felony conviction. Yes - this can be roadblock for certain situations. But this can also work to your advantage. Kind of like the old saying "if life's given you a lemon - then make lemonade".
I spent 4 years of college - and 2 more trying to get a job in law enforcement. I finally got an opportunity to apply to the Dept. of Treasury for a postion in the Secret Service. Went through testing, physicals, interviews - and all looked promising. Then I had to fill out a form which asked if I had ever taken drugs, smoked pot, etc. Knowing that I could be subject to a lie detector, I had no alternative than to be honest, and admit that I smoked pot in college. Boom - it all disappeared just like that.
Ended up in sales, and have made more money than I ever would have in law enforcement. Plus I love what I do.

Don't get down on yourself. Get back into school. I personally believe that at 22, you are more mature and will get much more out of an education than an 18-19 yr old.
When I was in school, I had friends that started at 22-23 yrs. old. I know that they were better prepared for the diligence required to do well in college.
Do it ! Go for it !!
Overcoming the felony will prove that you can succeed and move forward. That will be respected. Yes, there will be times it will come back to haunt you, but no matter - you will have the satisfaction that you overcame a serious tragedy in your life.

PS. Get past these feelings to end it all. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Good Luck and God Bless !!

Twenty-two IS NOT too old to be going to college. Have you ever heard of a nontraditional student?
Why not contact the colleges you are interested in and ask for information on the degrees they offer?
Then you may want to arrange for a campus tour. At that time, you can confidentially speak to someone in admissions or career counseling and voice your concerns over your past felony.
Don't give up, please! Have you ever heard of Judge Mathis on TV? He was in trouble as a young man and now he is a judge (for real).
You can get past this mistake and you can have a good life. It may be harder for you than for some, but you can do it!

You aren't too old to get a degree. I know a 30 something year old felon that got a great job with the city, and overcame the obstacles in his life. Go ahead and get a degree, just know that it will cost you.

You may want to seek some help of a therapist, to get you in the right mindset first. Quit having a pity party for yourself, and turn your life around.

YOU can do it!! Just put your mind to it!!

Yea dude anything is possible just study hard and do the work. You’re not that old go get your education. And don’t wait till you’re too old and just hate your life. You can still make a difference in the world you just got to be willing to.

Stop having a pity party for yourself......grow some balls......and get on with your life.

If you want to go to college, then do it!! You never too old to go to school. Who cares if it takes you a few year. How old would you be in those few years if you didn't go? DUH!!! Same age!!!

If you want respect, then be the type of person who is worth of it. The felony part you will just have to work around. And you can do that.......by being consistant with school and what you want to become,

Get off your duff......stop bitchin......and just do it!

Good luck!!
