Not to dispute dr_76 but Tim also has the respect of the Superhuman community, didn't Superman put him in charge of guarding a tower during Infinite Crisis? Given time I believe that Mr Drake would have the experience to become the Bat but it will take a major upheaval in his life to force him into such a decision. Dick on the other hand having the experience does not have the calculated nature neccessary to effectively don the mantle. the whole purpose of Nightwing is to pay homage to Bruce without becoming him. Also Graysons heart would not be in it. Drake is a good soldier, but let's look at another possibility, shall we? Jason ( yes he is back from the dead) Todd could just as easily assume the mantle and with his psychopathic tendencies be almost as effective as Bruce.

DIck Grayson is better suited for the Mantle of the Bat. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Tim Drake but he is not the MAN that Dick Grayson has become.
Dick has earned the respect of almost every hero in the DC Universe and has already taken the place of Bruce during the Prodigal storyline. And did quite well against Two-Face, I might add.
Tim has stated on many occations that he does NOT want to become Batman, that it was not why he became Robin. He is very happy being the second half of Batman & Robin.

If by ‘succeed’, you mean, replace, no one can replace The Batman.; that’s why even his enemies call him THE Batman. I don’t think that Tim is ready yet, and Dick is his own man and wants to be his own man, as Nightwing. I know, he’s filled in for Batman in times past (now that he can fit the costume and doesn’t have to wear an inflatable body stocking, as he had to back in the 70’s.) But Commisioner Gordon was able to see through him. Dick is a half inch shorter and six pounds lighter. His voice is a good imitation of the Batman voice, but not perfect. It‘s HARD to fill his shoes…!
I think we’re going to have to wait until the current craze for not letting super heroes have real children and really raise them to adulthood is over, and Superman and Batman have real sons (By Lois and Selina, respectively!). Then we will see Superman Junior and Batman Junior stories, like they used to have in Brave and Bold.

Dick Grayson.
I could sit here and give a million reasons to back that up or I could just say this: He's Nightwing, enough said. LOL
