On the bright side, to me, compromise means that you are willing to put aside your own way of doing things, to accomodate or facilitate another person, so that they can be involved with you in some way.. It means that you understand it is more important to be in a relationship with someone, than it means to be right all the time. You are willing to validate their way of seeing the world, and not argue with them.

Compromising can also mean giving up your integrity, or your ideals and standards for a an illusion, or somethting that has no substance of reality. They say that there is no successful marriage, without compromise.

When a husband wants to watch the Super Bowl and the wife wants to watch the soap opera, they compromise. They watch the soap opera.

But seriously, a good example is the Oregon Territory (which is present-day Oregon, Washington, and the southern half of BC). England wanted it all, and the US wanted it all. So they compromised and split it in half. War avoided.

Compromise means giving up a little of what you want and them giving up a little of what they want so you come to an agreement that you can both live with.

compromise is when both arguing parties come to an agreement that isn't the exact goal that each party wanted, but it is a combination of both of the two party's goals. a compromise makes both of the people happy and it stops them from fighting, because it is made up of alittle of each persons ideas.
