Well I think you have to do that at any testing station. As for negative comment... the following is not negative but really just what you don't want to hear. If, and that's if... you live in Chicago I recommend practicing your parallel parking as nearly all of parking on streets in the city is parallel. Besides... no offense, and I know we all bump and grind in the city but if you suck that bad at it I certainly don't want you slamming in to my car because you didn't want to take the time to learn...LOL. Its not that hard... besides... I'm sure they would go easy on you... I don't think that is going to make or break your test results. They look for you not putting the seatbelt on right away, general rules of the road, and missing stop signs, etc. Give it a try... you can always re-test 24hrs later if you fail.

Theres one by Laramie and Roosevelt Ave between Chicago and Cicero, going on Laramie towards Chicago, theres a bridge that goes above the I290. To the left(toward Chicago) u can see the IL Secretary of State offices and they have of course the DMV there. The parallel parking part of the test is very easy there because its not as crowded as other places. I got my license there 4 yrs ago, and my siblings and cousins got it there as well, some recently, and that was never a problem. I'm sorry if i knew the address I would give it to you but u can look it up at http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/drivers/facilities/

maybe someone can tell u where it is exactly

best of luck and i hope you get your license soon, be careful though :)

I'm inclined to agree with the first poster and say that you shouldn't bother getting a license now if you can't parallel park. It's an essential driving skill, especially when living in this city. I suppose I can be a sport and reccomend the DMV (not DNV) located at 99th and King Drive. Unless they've changed the test in the 3 years since I retook my test there, they don't include parallel parkin in their road test.

The best thing for you to do is practice your parallel parking. All DMV's in Chicago are different and you might get a different instructor. I am sure you have to pass that test, but you might get lucky with an instructor whom won't take you through it. The driving laws in Illinois are getting alot tougher, so I doubt you will get an instructor who will not do that test. All you can do is practice, try at a mall parking lot.

Good luck
