It smells like rotten eggs! Is there some household product that will help, ie baking soda, vinegar, hot water?

I try to put baking soda down my drains at least once a week. Just make sure you flush it with plenty of hot water.

Is something rotten in the drain? Plunge it! (get a sink plunger--looks like a toy toilet plunger. Stop up the overflow hole with a wet rag. Remove the stopper. Put hot water in the sink. Wrap a large towel-size rag around the plunger handle and drape it over the sink so that it will catch any splashes. Plunge away!)

Then run a bunch of hot water down the drain.

Then dump a couple of boxes of baking soda down the drain.

Pour baking soda in the drain followed by plain white vinegar. Let sit for an hour then flush with hot water.

sometimes water stays too long in p-trap under sink and causes bad smell.. The box of baking soda followed by vinegar is perfect for cleaning debris and smell, but still water collecting in p-trap could be source.

You could always try some bleach. I don't know how old your house is, so I don't know if it has vents or not. Mine does not, but the plumber suggested using bleach every few weeks just to kill anything that could grow bacteria that might be trapped in the line. Also, baking soda and vinegar seem to work fairly well....this is mainly for clogged drains though. Hope this helps!

The problem is that it is not venting correctly, I'm betting that it also drains slower than it should and gurgles. Try cleaning out your vents (small 1 1/2 or 2" open pipes on your roof. These get plugged by small birds and debris over time. Use a garden hose with a "small" amount of water to start with until you are sure it is draining then crank it up to more pressure. This is a two person job.

If you've tried all of the above and it still smells, you can open up the pipe underneath the sink ( it usually unscrews very simply). Sometimes things get stuck in the joins or bends of the pipes. Just empty it all out into a bowl (use disposable gloves) and then screw it back together. After you're finished swith the tap on and watch the pipe to make sure it's not leaking and you've put it back together properly.
Good Luck

Baking soda and flush with hot water for 30 minutes.

The rotten egg smell is due to a build up of sulfur somewhere. If it's coming from your sewer system, call them up so they can handle it.

Vinegar works pretty well and flush with water about 5-10 minutes later. I have the same problem and the vinegar helps.

this is a very common problem, it hapens to me all the time because the drains should be purified from now and then, here is this tested method :put in the drain a handful of TIDE,a handful of baking soda and a handful of salt, pour hot boiling water in the drain (about 2 liters, carefully)then follow it with tab water for 5 minutes and your problem is gone
