The movie Shadowlands states at the beginning of the movie: "This is a true story," rather than, "this is Based upon a true story." It is true, and it is the most touching happy/sad real love story that I've ever seen. It stars Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger.

My mom. She had been with my Dad for over 15 years and he cheated on her and beat her and told her that she was not to mess with any of his other women. She left him after having me and my brother. I was 5 and he was 1. She then went on a downward spiral and fell in love with one abusive man after another, until she had my sister. Her Dad was the most abusive. After him, she finally found a man. He was Mexican and only spoke Spanish and She only spoke English. He was also my age. However, He was the most loving and kind man to my mother. Even though there was a language barrier, they understood each other. He helped her around the house, with shopping, growing a garden, and just about anything she desired him. He gave her space when she needed it and they hardly ever fought. He did not have any children and my Mom was in her late 40's early 50's. She was late, but not because she was pregnant. It was menopause. He thought she was pg, but when it turned out she wasn't, he was very sad. He wanted nothing more than to have a child with my mom, but accepted the fact that they could not. My Mom did not want him to hurt so bad, so she broke up with him and told him to get married to someone young that would give him children, he didn't want to go, but she made him. He soon got married and his wife was pregnant. She had a still born baby at 8 months. The first person that he ran to was my Mom. It is very sad that this had to happen, but she reassured him that if he tried again for another child that he would be a father. My mom has only been with one other man since and not for a long time.

Women sees man from across the room, she instantly know if he was hers, she'd stay forever. They meet, he says he feels the same way. They move in together and everything is perfect. She never felt so loved, secure, happy etc... Until a year and half later... she comes home from work to find her home almost empty and the bf and all his stuff and some of hers gone! 2 weeks before Christmas! She's devastated, has emotional breakdown, loses job, home, child, can't get passed it... son of a b***h dies a few years later in Iraq she mourns twice for same man.

the saddest story is when u finally get some wisdom and know where the problems are in your marriage, and can fix them easily, and then your spouse leaves u for someone else, destroying u and the marriage, when right around the corner was all the good just waiting to emerge.

these two great kids were going out, they had an excellent relationship for about 5 months, then the guy admitted to the girl, he loved her, which was probably true in their case, he cared so much for her
she dumped him, because she couldnt love him, for whatever reason
a few months later, the "straight" girl, fell inlove with her best female friend, which basically said "sorry guy, your not good enough to love even though you were always there for me, were romantic, and nice, but this chick who cusses, is a ***** alot, and has crappy humor is good enough :)"
and to this day, she still refuses to come out of the closet and admit shes a lesbian, i heard rumors they did stuff together, which i dont doubt

I wish I could answer this, but I honestly can't think of any happy, sad love stories. I know of some couples who make it work, but I've never seen any fireworks anywhere.... kinda sad..
