I was at a music festival in Arizona once.
There was an old gray haired man sitting on a low wall outside the festival grounds about 60 yards away from the entrance. It was a hot day and this guy looked like he was having a bit of trouble. He was on oxygen and I thought I'd take him a glass of water.
As I approached him, he smiled a strained smile and asked me to sit with him.
I asked him if he wanted a drink of water, to which he graciously accepted.I asked him what he was doing there in this condition in the heat,
"I've come here to die, I have been locked up in a nursing home and I escaped today."
I was silent and waited for another word.
He began to tell me that he had been in the army, and in WWII he had entertained the troops by whistling. I asked if he still knew how. He did. He demonstrated with the sweetest of crescendos and trills. Once he was satisfied with the variety he paused. He thanked me for the water and for noticing him.

Then he asked me if I ever got 'chills'
I asked him what he meant.
"when you hear TRUTH"
"no" i said.
"Then that is my gift to you, right now. From this time on you will, whenever you hear Truth"

Since that day I have gotten goose bumps, shivers and tingles when people speak truth. When those around try to deceive with all there might, I know, because I don't get chills.

That is actually not the myth in its full meaning honey. What science has actually proven is that certain people are more in tune with their surrounding and environment than others. Don't get me wrong. I believe there are ghosts that walk amongst us, I just don't believe that just because you get the chills it means one has just passed you by. There's more to it than that. When you get that chill, pay close attention to your environment, the light in the room, the mood you are in and the feelings you are getting. They all tie together to give you that "chill" if a ghost is present.

I know this may sound weird, but the more in tune you are, the better you'll be apt to answer your own question.

As for those myths that have been proven:

Houses have faces, character and give off energy.

When you feel as though you are being watched.....you are.

Ghosts can communicate through white noise (static on a tv or stereo)

There are a ton of them. I hope you find the one that suits you. It's creepy but it's also pretty neat.

I heard once that a spirit hugging you will make you cry.
