YES and more -a codependent is from a dysfunctional family (over half America) this means u grow up being either picky about housekeeping like a nervous nelly being the nurse to all being a caretaker to settle disputes to take thing in ur own hands when people don't ask for ur help and u could be the enabler to keep peace give the smoker or druggie his fix or alcoholic their booze take care of them when they pass out take their shoes off or u can end up like them with an addiction of some sort.. read codependency no more by melody baty a good book and how u can set yourself free from it all as things will settle in your life and not for the best if u don't know why u do certain things like give advice when not asked.. or volunteer to take on a job that is not yours.. or enable people to be crippled in their addiction or fall into your own..it can be sexoholic alcoholic drugs gambling.. a bad habit of sorts..also relationships in them and code pendants end up bad as they self sabotage them with their quirks and bad habits.. they so desperately needed love in their lives..

maybe i don't know my husband was a alcoholic but i think codependency is a group for alcohol and drugs

absolutely not...
being codependant means refilling yourself with just about anything to the extreme...you could be a perfectionist or a workaholic.....all the same, all about self-medicating to cover up your issues instead of releasing them and moving forward.

It doesn't have to, but many co-dependent people are not only co-dependent upon another person for their emotional needs, but will also depend on drugs or alcohol to fill the gaps left by the other person.

No - it can mean any addiction. Gambling and sex can also be addictions. I'm sure there are others as well.
