It should be a good 307, the small chamber 289 heads work well only if you put 2.00 /1.600 valves and do some porting to make them breath.
With this setup you'll have a good torkey motor.

302 Roller Block

A 306 with higher compression, and limited breathing ability.

With fuel injection, it'd be a good torque motor.

The good news is that original Ford small block heads respond very well to home porting, if you've got access to an air grinder.
