Was there really a ten year war between the Greeks and Trojans?
To what extent can we say the war was between the deities as they had direct involvement in it including taking sides?
In other words, Given that the deities got so much involved in human affairs, was there free will of the people or were they simply puppets of the Gods?
Zeus himself was a terrible rapist and scheming deity. How comes he still commanded influence over the rest of the deities?
Finally, were there really any deities or were these just passions like anger and love to which the Greek & Roman intellectuals tried to explain by apportioning deities?

We all know the famous gods and goddesses and their myths. What I'd like to know is, did the ordinary Greek-on-the-street believe in all the mythology and did it play a significant role in his everyday life? I'm sure he observed feast days and so on, but did he really believe in what they were all about?

It would be great to hear conflicting versions of the same myth, if that sort of thing ever happens. Or see how a story evolved and went through different versions.
