Why did Gil Grissom leave the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation?

Grissom didnt leave the show for good it was on temporarily. The writers of CSI wrote it like Grissom was leaving to teach somewhere cause William Peterson the actor who plays Grissom wanted some time off to do a play. Grissom is due to come back on the February 15th episode of CSI.

William Petersen the actor who plays Grissom is just taking some time off to do a play. He is suppose to return in Feb. On the show they have him leaving to teach a class at a college and will be back. The show is just not the same with out Grissom

Irl. Bill Peterson is acting in a play and was temp written out of the show. He will be back b4 the season ends..he still has to open his gift from the Minature Killer, remember.

I'm not sure if he left the show permanently but last week he was going to teach some class for a few weeks. I'm guessing he will be back!

He left for sabbatical but will be back in a couple weeks.
